According to NYPD, the first incident happened on Saturday June 11 near East Tremont and Mayflower avenues in the Bronx when they found 26 year old Giovanni A. Nin severely injured in the roadway.

Nin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second incident happened in Manhattan near near Chambers and West streets at around 7:52 p.m. when a 2011 Ford truck being driven by 26 year old Samuel Silva, from New Jersey was turning right to westbound Chambers Street when he hit a woman riding her bicycle southbound on West Street. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Silva also left the scene but was later detained near Warren Street and North End Avenue, and has been charged with manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to yield to a pedestrian, and driving while ability impaired.

Man Killed in Hit and Run

On Tuesday, June 10, a body was found on a front lawn in Greenburgh and the police think it was a hit and run.

According to Greenburgh police, the body of a man was found at 6 a.m. when spotted by a passing driver in front of 57 South Road. Police identified the man as 23 year old Darryl Chung who moved to Greenburgh from Mount Vernon with his mother around five months ago.

Police believe Chung was walking east on the road and was then hit from behind, between 11:30 Monday evening and when the body was found. However, it was not clear exactly when Chung was hit as there were no reports of the incident but the police did recover some forensic information. Now they are looking for a vehicle with damage at the front on the passenger side, especially to the bumper or headlight and have requested help from the public in locating the vehicle.
